As per reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating shifting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final from Kolkata to either Ahmedabad or Mumbai as the City of Joy experiences heavy rainfall at this time of the year. Eden Gardens was set to host Qualifier 2 and the summit clash, with the Kolkata Knight Riders winning the title last year. However, after the one-week suspension of IPL 2025, when the BCCI announced a fresh schedule for the last phase of the tournament, they did not specify the venues for the playoff games.
Recently, former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly shared his views on the potential shifting of the IPL 2025 final. He revealed that he has been discussing the matter regularly with the IPL authorities and hoped that everything would be sorted out soon.
“No, no, we’re trying — talking to the BCCI. Is it that easy to shift the final? It’s Eden’s playoffs, and I’m sure everything will be sorted. I’m very hopeful. Protest doesn’t help much. BCCI has a very good relationship with the Cricket Association of Bengal,” the former India captain was quoted as saying by India Today.

Kohli’s retirement has surprised me: Ganguly
India’s iconic duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from Test cricket on May 7 and May 12, respectively. Ganguly congratulated both of them on their stellar careers and said he was surprised, particularly by Kohli’s decision.
“It’s their own decision. Can anyone leave the sport without it being their own wish? But it’s been a fantastic career, and the same goes for Rohit Sharma. Kohli’s retirement has surprised me,” he added.
Rohit, 38, retired after playing 67 Tests, scoring 4,301 runs at an average of 40.58. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old Virat Kohli aggregated 9,230 runs from 123 Tests, averaging 46.85. Both cricketers will continue representing India in the ODI format. Rohit will continue leading the Men in Blue after guiding the team to the Champions Trophy title earlier this year.
