Pakistan pace Rauf remains confident ahead of the must-win clash against India on Sunday, 23 February

With their all anticipation and hope in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan face a mandatory-win battle against India who are in full swing on Sunday, February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. And looking at the past histories and records, the team has faith and remains optimistic.
Pakistan’s pacer Haris Rauf ahead of Friday’s practice session at the ICC Academy said, “We have beaten India twice in Dubai, and we aim to make it three. We are confident and ready for a great contest.”
Pakistan’s triumph over India in Dubai is always a story to tell and has come in different fonts, once in the 2021 T20 World Cup with a dominating 10-wicket win and the second one in the 2022 Asia Cup Super Four stage by five wickets. Nevertheless, India holds the upper hand across ICC events, in ODIs. The real pressure on Pakistan is added because of a devastating defeat against New Zealand at their home ground.
Rauf, well aware of the results likely emphasized the team’s interest. “What’s past is past. We are concentrating on the India game, addressing our mistakes, and ensuring we don’t repeat them. It’s a do-or-die match, and we must win to stay in contention for the semifinals”, he said.

Despite the high-intensity pressure around, Rauf assured that the team’s morale is kept upheld. “The boys are upbeat. We will give our best in all departments whether it is batting, bowling, and fielding. There is no extra pressure; we are treating this as just another match.”
Looking at Pakistan’s pace attack, they have a strong record, but Rauf confirmed that the pitch conditions will play an important role. “The pitch can sometimes favour spin. We will assess the track and plan accordingly for each batsman”, he mentioned.
Talking about fitness concerns after giving out 83 runs against New Zealand in his 10-over spell, Rauf ousted all the queries. “You saw the game, I bowled all 10 overs. My fitness is fine.”
Pakistan has endured many injury defeats, with Fakhar Zaman declaring unfit after a fielding mishap and Saim Ayub missing out on the tournament. Rauf, nonetheless, discharged criticism regarding the training methods. “Injuries happen. You can get hurt even while walking. It’s unfortunate, but the team is focused and ready. Fans can expect a great match.”
